  • 10/15/2025: Endorsed a publication by the ALA report, "Fueling Sickness: The Hidden Health Costs of Fossil Fuel Pollution", on the direct health harms of fossil fuels across all systems of the body. 
  • 10/14/2025: Signed a letter to the Honorable Brooke Rollins, Secretary, Department of Agriculture, requestions a meeting  to discuss  the urgent, growing health threat posed by wildfires.

  • 8/5/2025: OUCH member, Dr. Eric Balaban, testified to OMB and EPA opposing the repeal of the 2009 Greenhouse Gas Endangerment Finding and engine emission standards, citing the scientific consensus on climate change and its severe health impacts. 
  • 8/5/2025: Signed a joint comment on EPA's proposed repeal of carbon pollution standards for power plants, repealing the carbon pollution standards for power plants, which would reduce greenhouse gas emissions from future gas plants, existing coal plants, and some existing gas plants. 
  • 7/2/2025: Signed a joint comment opposing the DOE's  proposal to roll back and/or eliminate energy efficiency standards
  • 6/10/2025: Signed letter to CMS opposing the removal of the Decarbonization and Resilience Initiative from the Transforming Episode Accountability Model (TEAM).
  • 6/4/2025: OUCH member, Dr. Thomas Kuczmarski, received the ASCO Young Investigator Award for his research on how climate change impacts infection risk in leukemia patients at the 2025 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting. ​

  • 3/21/2025: Signed testimony to the House committee on Appropriations, Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies in support of FY26 appropriations for key public health programs within the Environmental Protection Agency, advocating for $12 billion in funding to address air pollution and climate-related health risks 
  • 3/2025: Signed the 2025 Declaration on Climate Change and Health, joining national health and medical organizations in advocating for urgent climate action to promote public health 
  • 3/2025: Participated in a Lobby Day on the Hill on behalf of MSCCH and other organizations 
  • 2/10/2025: Signed a letter to the new EPA new administrator, Dr. Zelding of the Environmental Protection Agency indicating our support of the mission and lifesaving work of EPA. 
  • 1/2025: Contributed comments with other health care organizations on the EPA's “Interim Framework for Advancing Consideration of Cumulative Impacts” with specific input on the Framework’s application in the determination of the primary National Ambient Air Quality Standards for criteria air pollutants.  
  • 1/25: Contributed comments on the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health’s (NIOSH) regarding their  Hazard Review: Wildland Fire Smoke Exposure Among Farmworkers and Other Outdoor Workers 
  • 1/2025: Signed letter to Congress urging it to Stand Strong for Climate
  • 12/2024: Supported EPA's Interim Framework for Advancing Consideration of Cumulative Impacts
  • 11/2024:  Finalize Energy Efficiency Standards With other national organizations, signed a letter to President Biden urging that several energy efficiency standards for various types of appliances be finalized by the Department of Energy. 
  • 8/2024: Supported a letter to the Army Core of Engineers to  decommission the LIne 5  pipeline in Northern Wisconsin for our climate, and public health.
  • 7/2024:Signed on to a  letter  calling on EPA to approve the many outstanding waivers that will allow California to fully implement a slate of clean vehicles standards, including  the Advanced Clean Cars II,  Advanced Clean Fleets,  and the Heavy-Duty Low NOx Omnibus, among others.
  • 6/2024: Along with other national public health and medical organizations, signed a letter asking  the EPA to rescind its 2020 Clean Air  Act New Source Review Project Emissions accounting rule, which authorizes major air pollluters tt=o greatly increase emissions without installiing up-to-date pollution controls or assessing air quality impacts. 
  • 6 /2024:  Along with other national public health and medical organizations, signed a letter opposing efforts to block EPA rules and instead urged Congress to safeguard the Clean Air Act.
  • 6/2024: We, along with other national public health and medical organizations, commented on a proposal by CMS for a voluntary program for hospitals to report their greenhouse gas emissions, and get technical assistance in reducing them. 
  • 5.2024: Wrote to CMS on behalf of OUCH supporting TEAM Decarbonization and Resilience Initiative, urging CMS to collect, manage, assess, and address hospital admissions. https://www.cms.gov/team-decarbonization-and-resilience-initiative​
  • 5/2024: Joined a comment letter on expanding the Good Neighbor Plan; the EPA’s proposal to add additional states to the Good Neighbor Plan, which requires states to reduce emissions from power plants and some industrial sources 
  • 5/2024: Sent a written testimony to the US Senate Appropriations Committee advocating for adequate funding for the EPA
  • 5/2024: Signed a letter to National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health’s (NIOSH) Request for Information on Outdoor Workers Exposed to Wildland Fire Smoke, and had "cancer" added as one of the risks of wildfire smoke.
  • 5/2024: On behalf of OUCH, joined the National Academy of Medicine climate and health movement ​
  • 2/2024: Signed a letter urging the EPA to grant California a waiver to implement their Advanced Clean Cars II program. Not only will this allow California to move forward with strong rules to drive a transition to zero-emission cars, but it will also allow other states who have opted into those rules to move forward too. 
  • 2/2024: Testified to  the Office of Management and Budget and Environmental Protection Agency in support of the the Clean Car Standard
